To all than have experienced the same fate. Remember we all make mistakes, it is called being human. Every day when I wake I regret what took place on that May 2008. I did not realize I had a little more to drink than I did.
As a new Police officer on probation and celebrating my new position never thought this could ever happen to me but it did, got into an accident took down a utility pole and a fence, I thank got nobody got hurt. I was convicted of a DWAI by way of a bench trial and not reduced as a plea deal from the DAs office...not a crime but a traffic infraction.
Yes to all that think we are not held to a higher standard we are! Lost a dream job and I should have. I know my chances of becoming a Police Officer again will be the biggest challenge of my life. To all: hang in there, I since have been hired as a Police officer. If I can do it so can YOU! Good Luck to all be safe and learn from your mistakes.

Hang in there....I was impacted similar to you recently but found a new role in 9 days. The key is realizing you're not unemployed. You're new job is building a business plan for yourself and being self employed marketing and positioning yourself for new opportunities. The key is to let all the people you trust know your situation. They will talk to others they trust, the word will spread quickly, and you will be contacted. It's critical to let all these people know your cell phone and e-mail address quickly.
